Export Promotion Mission (EPM) in strengthening India’s MSME export ecosystem.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has expanded the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) by introducing seven additional interventions to strengthen India’s MSME export ecosystem. With a financial outlay of ₹25,060 crore for six years (FY 2025–26 to 2030–31), EPM provides a comprehensive and digitally driven framework for export promotion.
EPM operates through two integrated sub-schemes: Niryat Protsahan (Financial Support) and Niryat Disha (Non-Financial Support).
Under Niryat Protsahan, measures such as Export Factoring Support and E-Commerce Credit Facilities address the working capital challenges of MSMEs. Guarantee coverage up to 90% reduces financial risk and improves credit access. Support for emerging export opportunities encourages diversification into high-risk or new markets, reducing overdependence on traditional destinations.
Under Niryat Disha, initiatives such as TRACE (compliance and certification support), FLOW (overseas warehousing), LIFT (logistics intervention for disadvantaged districts), and INSIGHT (trade intelligence and capacity building) enhance competitiveness and market readiness. These measures align with the “Districts as Export Hubs” initiative.
The significance of EPM lies in bridging structural constraints—finance, logistics, compliance, and information asymmetry. It supports India’s goal of export diversification, employment generation, and integration into global value chains. By strengthening MSMEs, which contribute nearly 45% to exports, the mission enhances inclusive growth and external sector resilience.
Thus, EPM represents a strategic shift from incentive-based promotion to ecosystem-based export enablement.
